How it all began ...

A revolutionary Invention

It’s 1919. In Sterling, Illinois, USA, Leo J. Wahl is a high school student. However, he’s not really interested in maths and grammar – he dreams of completely new uses for oscillating armature motors. A little later, he notices that the hand tools generally used by hairdressers are in urgent need of improvement. With great inventive genius, he sets to work. The brilliant result of his pioneering development work is the “Model 66” – the world’s first electromagnetic hair clipper.
It’s not long before countless numbers of enthusiastic users buy it. WAHL® becomes synonymous with professional hair clippers.
